Are you living with a chronic illness, or dealing with a diagnosis or treatment of a serious disease?
Are you working with your medical providers but still feeing anxious, depressed, isolated or hopeless?
Are you creating a split between body and mind to cope with pain or symptoms, and thus feeling less present in your life and participating less than you could?
Are you unhappy with changes in your relationships due to physical, mental and emotional effects of your illness?
The Buddha taught that the four foundational physical sufferings are birth, old age, sickness and death. We will all experience birth and death, and most of us will experience old age and sickness at some point in our lives. Having a chronic illness brings both inner and outer obstacles.
I use a holistic approach integrating psychotherapy with mindfulness and awareness of thoughts, emotions and bodily feeling, to help you integrate your experience of illness into a meaningful life, make the most of your medical treatment, advocate for your needs, and set and achieve the goals that are important to you. I have experience working with people living with cancer, HIV and AIDS, and a variety of other chronic illnesses of all ages, including older adults and people with multiple medical conditions.
Treatment can be brief or longer term, depending on your individual needs and goals in therapy.
